A checkerboard pattern that existed as a woven pattern from ancient times. It was also seen in the clothing of the clan of the Kofun period and in the textiles of Horyuji and Shosoin.

The piece is considered one of the most sacred of the Shakuhachi meditation compositions, some say it is over 1000 years old.
It always inspires me to see the beauty and wisdom of the past, and gives me hope and patience for the present and future.
