Enjoy a late afternoon tour of the House, Studio and Woodland Garden with Tom Krizmanic, AIA, LEED AP, Gensler and Manitoga Board Member. Then soak in the majestic sunset on Dragon Rock’s living room terrace overlooking the Quarry Pool while enjoying light refreshments and cocktails. On view in the landscape, Master of Architecture Students at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Design will design and build a full-scale, site-specific pavilion at Manitoga inspired by Russel Wright's legacy.

On view in the House and Studio, Ecstatic Light, an installation of illuminated paintings by Peter Bynum.

THE TOUR EXPERIENCE

Tours begin with a short film about Wright's life and design legacy. Visitors then follow the upper Quarry Path to Dragon Rock. Along the way, the tour features stunning views of the House and Studio, an ascending stone staircase, a field of mountain laurel, and the exquisite moss room. Visitors approach Dragon Rock by crossing the majestic waterfall via a wood plank bridge. Interior spaces are defined by expanses of glass, innovative materials use, and seamless connections to outside terraces. The Tour concludes by following a stepping stone path over the Quarry Pool dam to the Visitor/Guide House.

IMPORTANT TOUR INFORMATION

Tours last 90 minutes and are conducted rain or shine. Please wear sensible walking shoes and dress for weather. Visitors must be able to negotiate uneven ground, several bridge crossings with no handrails and a series of 40 stone steps. 

Pets, backpacks, large bags, tripods, extension poles, selfie-sticks, framed infant carriers and strollers are not permitted.

Please avoid disappointment and purchase tour tickets in advance. If a tour is not sold out, tickets may be available for purchase at the Visitor/Guide House on a first-come first-serve basis.

Visitors meet at the Manitoga Visitor/Guide House next to the parking lot located at 584 Route 9D in Garrison, NY.

CUSTOM GROUP TOURS are available by appointment, allowing for a more focused experience of the architecture, landscape and/or collections at Manitoga. group tours begin at $30 per person. To arrange a tour and discuss options, please call 845-424-3812 or email usPlease note Manitoga cannot  accommodate vehicles longer than 35 feet from axle to axle. Full size coach buses must be parked offsite and shuttle transportation arranged by the group. Call Manitoga for further details. 

PRIVATE TOURS of Manitoga can be arranged by appointment for times outside of our posted public tours. These tours are given by Manitoga staff as their time allows and cost $50 per person with a minimum charge of $100. Call the Manitoga office in advance of your visit at 845-424-3812 to reserve your tour. 

Please note that ticket purchases are non-refundable once sales close two hours before the tour is scheduled to begin.
