JULY

House, Studio & Landscape Tours
May 10 through November 11, 2019

13 – Saturday, 10am, Guided Hike: Viewspots to the Hudson, $5 suggested donation per person. Take a 1-1/2 hr. / 1.5 mile moderate hike of Manitoga's woodland trails, featuring four osio ("beautiful view" in native Algonquin) created by Russel Wright to frame the Hudson River. To register, email tours@visitmanitoga.org.

13 – Saturday, 3:30 - 5pm, Collectors Tour, $50. Enjoy a late afternoon tour of the House, Studio and Woodland Garden with a special focus on the relationship between Russel Wright’s industrial design work and the architecture and landscape of Manitoga.
Visit includes special viewing of objects from the Russel Wright Design Collection and the temporary exhibition Collecting Modern: Gifts from the George R. Kravis II Collection.

20 – Saturday, 5-7pm, Sunset Tour, $75. Enjoy a late afternoon in-depth tour of the House, Studio and Woodland Garden. Then soak up the majestic late day sun with a glass of wine and conversation with other design enthusiasts on Dragon Rock’s terraces, overlooking the Quarry Pool.

10 – Saturday, 10am Guided Landscape Hike: Quarry to Quarry, $5 suggested donation. Take a guided 1-1/2 hr. / 1.5 mile moderate hike from the highly designed Quarry Pool at Dragon Rock to the wilderness of Lost Pond Quarry. Register at tours@visitmanitoga.org.

21 & 22 – Saturday & Sunday, Annual Performance: Quarry, presented by Ivy Baldwin Dance Company. Quarry will magnify Wright’s vision and Manitoga’s dramatic variations on scale and intimacy as the audience experiences the property and performers from great distances, overlooking the Quarry, viewing dancers on mossy roofs, and following smaller performances into the surrounding woodlands.

2 – Saturday, 10am - 3pm. Family Volunteer Landscape Workday & Bonfire. Roll up your sleeves and meet other arborists, horticulturists, garden designers and landscape enthusiasts. Volunteers of all skill levels are welcomed. Hot cider and toasted marshmallows. To register for this event, email ephillips@visitmanitoga.org or call 845-424-3812.

DECEMBER

YEAR ROUND

Self-Guided Hikes. Daily, during daylight hours. Manitoga offers two miles of trails designed by Russel Wright. His “garden of woodland paths” has links to the Appalachian Trail. Dogs are not permitted. Trail maps available at the Visitor/Guide House kiosk, 584 Route 9D public entrance. Suggested donation of $5 helps support trail maintenance.
