APRIL

27 – Saturday, 10am - 3pm. Landscape Workday
Roll up your sleeves and meet other arborists, horticulturists, garden designers and landscape enthusiasts. Volunteers of all skill levels are welcomed. To register for this event, email ephillips@visitmanitoga.org or call 845-228-8350.

MAY

10 – Friday, EXPLORE MANITOGA: Design • Art • Nature, $30
Guided tours begin, through November 18. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, hourly from 11am to 2pm, (90 minutes). Visit Dragon Rock, Wright’s modernist House and Studio, the surrounding woodland gardens, and the award-winning Russel & Mary Wright Design Gallery. $30 per person; Advance online ticket purchase required for all tours. Space is limited. Children (including infants) must be 10 years of age.

10 – Friday, Season open date for the Russel & Mary Wright Design Gallery at Manitoga, featuring over 200 objects from the Wrights’ ground-breaking designs for the American home with lead support from the Henry Luce Foundation. Visit by guided tour and special program only. General admission starts at $30.

11 – Saturday, No public tours due to Manitoga’s Art + Design Residency Opening Celebration

18 – Saturday, 10am & 3pm, The Garden Conservancy: Digging Deeper, The Power of Place at Manitoga, $40
Join Manitoga’s Landscape Collection and Conservation staff and James Brayton Hall, CEO and President of the Garden Conservancy for an exclusive, site-specific program.

19 – Sunday, 10 - 12pm, In the Landscape: Mind the Forest, $30
Join Mindful Outdoor Nature Guide Jane Dobson for the Japanese practice of Forest Bathing. Unlike a typical walk in the woods, Forest Bathing is slower and more deliberate, allowing our bodies and minds to reset in the natural environment we evolved from. Nature exposure lowers blood pressure and heart rate, reduces stress, and boosts our immune system and mood. Reconnect with nature, oneself and others. Space is limited, reservations required. Children (including infants) must be at least 12 years old to attend.

8 – Saturday, 3-5pm, MANITOGA – In Focus: Spring Blossoms & Bubbly, $75
Enjoy an extended, in-depth tour of the House, Studio and Woodland Garden with special focus on Manitoga’s choreographed foot trails, designed by Russel Wright to celebrate the seasons. Sparkling wine and strawberry mochi will be served, surrounded by blooming mountain laurel.

Explore the House, Studio and Woodland Garden in the enchanting hours of late afternoon. Then soak up the majestic sunset on the terraces of Dragon Rock with a glass of wine, charcuterie, and conversation among other design enthusiasts.

Take a 1-1/2 hr. / 1.5 mile moderate hike of Manitoga's woodland trails, featuring four osio ("beautiful view" in native Algonquin) designed by Russel Wright to frame the Hudson River.

Visitors follow the upper Quarry Path, featuring stunning views of the House and Studio, exquisite moss rooms and the majestic waterfall in the height of summer blooms. Enjoy a relaxed bento box picnic provided by Hibino during an exploratory hike amongst the wilderness to the various Quarry sites at Manitoga.

Led by naturalist and mycologist Taro Ietaka, this moderate hike offers an intimate experience of the richness of the Hudson Valley flora at Manitoga. Space is limited, reservations required.

A charcuterie spread and conversation with other design enthusiasts awaits on Dragon Rock’s terraces, overlooking the Quarry Pool.

DECEMBER

7 – Saturday, 10am - 12:30pm, Welcome Winter! Forest Walk & Pine Tea, $100
Enjoy an extended, in-depth experience of the House, Studio, Woodland Garden and Russel Wright choreographed foot trails. Jane Dobson, Mindful Outdoor Nature Guide, will provide a Forest Bathing walk, complete with freshly foraged pine tea and light snacks.

9 – Saturday, Last Day of Private Tours.

YEAR ROUND

Self-Guided Hikes. Daily, during daylight hours. Manitoga offers two miles of trails designed by Russel Wright. His “garden of woodland paths” has links to the Appalachian Trail. Dogs are not permitted. Trail maps available at the Visitor/Guide House kiosk, 584 Route 9D public entrance. Suggested donation of $5 helps support trail maintenance.
