MAY
12 – Friday, EXPLORE MANITOGA: Design • Art • Nature, $30
Guided tours begin, through November 13. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, hourly from 11am to 2pm, (90 minutes). Visit Dragon Rock, Wright’s modernist House and Studio, the surrounding woodland gardens, and the award-winning Russel & Mary Wright Design Gallery. $30 per person; Advance online ticket purchase required for all tours. Space is limited. Children (including infants) must be 10 years of age.
12 – Friday, Season open date for the Russel & Mary Wright Design Gallery at Manitoga, featuring over 200 objects from the Wrights’ ground-breaking designs for the American home with lead support from the Henry Luce Foundation. Visit by guided tour and special program only. General admission starts at $30.

3 – Saturday, 5-7pm, Season Opening Celebration
3 – Saturday, with tour admission, The Art + Design of Ceramics: Layered Voices. This two-part Installation within Dragon Rock’s House and Studio presents women ceramic artists working at mid-century and today. Spring will feature the historical work of Jade Snow Wong (1922-2006) and Katherine Choy (1927-1958). Through August 21, 2023.
10 – Saturday, 3-5pm, MANITOGA – In Focus: Spring Blossoms & Bubbly, $100
Enjoy an extended, in-depth tour of the House, Studio and Woodland Garden with special focus on Manitoga’s choreographed foot trails, designed by Russel Wright to celebrate the seasons. Sparkling wine and strawberry mochi will be served, surrounded by blooming mountain laurel.
17 – Saturday, 5-7pm, Sunset at Dragon Rock, $100
Explore the House, Studio and Woodland Garden in the enchanting hours of late afternoon. Then soak up the majestic sunset on the terraces of Dragon Rock with a glass of wine, charcuterie, and conversation among other design enthusiasts.
18 – Sunday, 10am-12pm, Landscape: Osios - Sculpted Views of the Hudson River Valley, $20
Take a 1-1/2 hr. / 1.5 mile moderate hike of Manitoga's woodland trails, featuring four osio ("beautiful view" in native Algonquin) designed by Russel Wright to frame the Hudson River.
Space is limited, reservations required.

1 – Saturday, 3-5pm, MANITOGA – In Focus: The Design Collection, $50
Enjoy a late afternoon tour of the House, Studio and Woodland Garden with special focus on the relationship between the Wright’s professional life-style and product designs and the architecture and landscape of their home at Manitoga. Tour includes an in-depth visit of the Russel & Mary Wright Design Gallery and an inside look at recent donations of rare early work from the collection of Gary & Laura Maurer.
9 – Sunday, 9 - 11am, In the Landscape: Mind the Forest, $30
Join Mindful Outdoor Nature Guide Jane Dobson for the Japanese practice of Forest Bathing. Unlike a typical walk in the woods, Forest Bathing is slower and more deliberate, allowing our bodies and minds to reset in the natural environment we evolved from. Nature exposure lowers blood pressure and heart rate, reduces stress, and boosts our immune system and mood. Reconnect with nature, oneself and others. Space is limited, reservations required. Children (including infants) must be at least 12 years old to attend.

Curator and collector James Zemaitis will share his insights and passion for the work of Katherine Choy (1927-1958) and Jade Snow Wong (1922-2006) along with contemporaries Russel and Mary Wright.

30 – Saturday, 4pm - 7pm, Performance: Trove Live at Manitoga, $40
Following the 2022 sold-out premiere of Trove, Ben Neill returns this summer to Manitoga to present Trove - an immersive, outdoor sonic performance/installation based on Fibonacci series sequences created specifically for Manitoga. The richly textured music ranges from meditative orchestral sonorities to gentle electronic pulses that reference plant life and nature and will offer audiences a dialogue between the Fibonacci patterns and the natural world that they represent within the magnificent atmosphere of Manitoga’s Quarry Pool and landscape. Bring a picnic and enjoy the sunset!

Then soak up the majestic late day sun with a glass of wine at the Boulder Osio before descending the Autumn Path. A charcuterie spread and conversation with other design enthusiasts awaits on Dragon Rock’s terraces, overlooking the Quarry Pool.

YEAR ROUND
Self-Guided Hikes. Daily, during daylight hours. Manitoga offers two miles of trails designed by Russel Wright. His “garden of woodland paths” has links to the Appalachian Trail. Dogs are not permitted. Trail maps available at the Visitor/Guide House kiosk, 584 Route 9D public entrance. Suggested donation of $5 helps support trail maintenance.
