The MANITOGA Design Collection + Shop offers for sale a curated selection of vintage tableware by Russel and Mary Wright, design books, nature-inspired accessories, plus select limited-editions by contemporary designers and artists.
Above: American Modern tableware by Russel and Mary Wright, manufactured in Ohio, U.S.A by Steubenville from 1939-1959 and widely considered the best selling American tableware ever. The Wrights conceived American Modern as an ever-evolving family of designs that were functional, affordable, and stylish in bold shapes, earthy colors, and jewel-like glazes. The original six colors were Bean Brown, Chartreuse, Coral, Granite Grey, Seafoam, and White. Black Chutney and Cedar Green were added in 1950, followed by Canteloupe and Glacier Blue five years later. Customers bought American Modern “open stock,” meaning they could purchase pieces individually as their household needs and social customs changed. This marketing strategy kept buyers coming back for more, year after year.
All purchases directly support Manitoga and our mission. Thank you!
