Kieran Kinsella

biography

Kieran Kinsella is a sculptor/furniture maker based in New York Stat’es Hudson Valley. Self taught in wood working by means of apprenticeships with Adirondack boat builders, timber farmers, and furniture makers, he uses traditional carving methods to explore and find new shapes hidden in tree trunks. Since 2009, he has devoted himself entirely to carving “stumps” from locally sourced and salvaged whole logs, producing work that is both sculptural and functional.

Kieran Kinsella at Dragon Rock

Kieran Kinsella collaborated with Rodger Stevens to exhibit a serise of scultpreus in Manitoga’s 2024 Art + Design Residency program, The Source of Everything. Their elegrant scultpures works combined Stevens’ Wrought metal with hardwood carved by Kinsella’s hand and harmonized with the modernist simplicity of Dragon Rock’s studio interiors.
